These dishes are usually served on colorful Kutani porcelain, or lacquerware made in Ishikawa, and taste as excellent as they look!

How to Access

There are several ways to travel from Tokyo to Kanazawa, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Here are the main options:

1. By Train:

Hokuriku Shinkansen: It offers the fastest and most convenient travel option between Tokyo and Kanazawa, boasting a travel time of approximately 2.5 hours. This bullet train operates directly between the two cities, providing passengers with comfortable and spacious seating, high speeds, and reliable service. However, fares begin around ¥14,000, making it the most expensive option. Operated jointly by JR-East and JR-West, you can check the train's status using this link.

Notes that: Thunderbird limited express is operated by JR West, which connects Osaka/Kyoto and Kanazawa with a travel time of around 2-4 hours.

2. By Bus:

Highway bus: This is a cheaper option than the train, with fares starting from around ¥5,000. However, it is also the slowest option, taking around 7-8 hours. Highway buses are comfortable and offer amenities like reclining seats and toilets, but they can be crowded and make several stops along the way.

3. By Plane:

Flying: This is the fastest option, with a flight time of around 1 hour. However, it is also the most expensive option, with fares starting from around ¥20,000. You will also need to factor in the time and cost of getting to and from the airports in both cities.

4. By Car:

Driving: This is a flexible option that allows you to stop and explore other places along the way. However, it is also the most time-consuming option, taking around 6-7 hours. You will also need to pay for tolls and gas.

The best option for you will depend on your budget, your time constraints, and your preferences. If you are looking for the fastest and most convenient option, the Hokuriku Shinkansen is the best choice. If you are on a budget, the highway bus is a good option. If you want to see more of Japan along the way, driving is a good choice. And if you are short on time, flying is the best option.
