Switzerland Travel―Visiting Bären Park in Bern

The bear has long served as a symbol of Bern, the Swiss capital city, and Baren Park is a tourist attraction in Bern. It is situated at the eastern edge of the old city of Bern, next to the Nydeggbrücke and the River Aare.

On 07/04/2019 and 07/05/2019, we visited Baren Park twice.  Once in the afternoon and once in the earlier morning.  However, there were no signs of any bear probably because the weather is too hot and bears were hiding in the cave or somewhere.  But, the surroundings of the park are very beautiful and worthy of a visit.

Lion Monument

The Lion Monument⭐, or the Lion of Lucerne, is a rock relief in Lucerne, Switzerland. It commemorates the Swiss Guards who were massacred in 1792 during the French Revolution when revolutionaries stormed the Tuileries Palace in Paris. It is one of the most famous monuments in Switzerland, visited annually by about 1.4 million tourists.

Mark Twain praised the sculpture of a mortally-wounded lion as "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world.

Glacier Garden of Lucerne

Glacier Garden is nature's own monument to history and an oasis of peace from busy Lucerne's life. Potholes of impressive proportions bear witness to the last ice age and to the fact that Lucerne was once covered by glaciers. Conversely, fossilized mussels and palm leaves found in local rock strata indicate that some 20 million years ago, the area of Lucerne was a subtropical beach!

On June 28, 2019, we started our day at the lakeshore and walked from the Church of St. Leodegar to the Lion Monument. We then visited the nearby Glacier Garden of Lucerne. We spent about two to three hours on the entire trip.

Switzerland Travel―Visiting Church of St. Leodegar in Lucerne

Church of St. Leodegar in Lucerne (YouTube link)

The Church of St. Leodegar (German: St. Leodegar im Hof or Hofkirche St. Leodegar) is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Lucerne, Switzerland. It was built in parts from 1633 to 1639 on the foundation of the Roman basilica which had burnt in 1633. This church was one of the few built north of the Alps during the Thirty Years War and one of the largest art history rich churches of the German late renaissance period.

The Schilthorn ⭐⭐is a 2,970-meter (9,744-foot) mountain in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. It overlooks the Lauterbrunnen Valley in the Bernese Oberland and is the highest mountain in the range lying north of the Sefinenfurgge Pass. The Schilthorn is located above the village of Mürren, and a cable car leads to its summit.
On 06/30/2019, a hot summer day, we have visited Mt Schilthorn from Wengen taking the following route:
WengenLauterbrunnen → Grütschalp → MürrenBirg → Schilthorn
If you hold a Swiss Travel Pass, this route is fully covered by it.
