Chiesa di Santa Maria del Sasso  is a Roman Catholic church located on a hill overlooking the village of Morcote , in the Swiss canton of Ticino. The church is a popular pilgrimage site and is known for its beautiful views of Lake Lugano. Photo Gallery On a sunny October day, we enjoyed a bus ride from Lugano to Morcote . Our first stop was Parco Scherrer , followed by a visit to the beautiful  Chiesa di Santa Maria del Sasso . With few visitors around, we were able to take in the serene views of Lake Lugano and appreciate the climb to the church.

It dissolves into a fine mist that dances in the air like a thousand shimmering diamonds, catching the sunlight in fleeting rainbows. Imagine the verdant embrace of the Lauterbrunnen Valley , cradling the Staubbachfall like a precious gem. Lush meadows dotted with wildflowers like alpine daisies and purple gentians carpet the valley floor, while quaint wooden chalets with red-tiled roofs and carved balconies cling to the hillside. The Lütschine River, a ribbon of crystal-clear water, snakes its way through the valley, its gurgling melody blending with the gentle roar of the waterfall. The waters of  Trümmelbach Falls  originate from the glaciers located high up on the Eiger , Mönch , and Jungfrau mountains. The water from these glaciers melts and flows down through a series of underground streams and cracks in the rock before eventually reaching the falls. Experience the Thundering Power of Trümmelbach Falls On June 10, 2023 , we took an elevator up to the falls.  Upon reaching the top, we ventured into the depths of the mountain, traversing a series of tunnels that seemed to transport us back in time.  As we delved further into the mountain's depths, the thunderous roar of cascading water filled the air, growing louder with each turn. The darkness was pierced by shafts of light that illuminated the raw beauty of the falls, revealing a mesmerizing spectacle of water cascading down a series of subterranean caves and gorges....

It was built in the 12th century and is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The castle is situated on a hill overlooking the city of Thun and Lake Thun. It is a four-towered fortress with a central keep. The castle was originally built by the Dukes of Zähringen, who ruled the region in the 12th and 13th centuries. The castle played an important role in the history of Thun. It was besieged on several occasions, but it never fell. The castle was also used as a prison and a court of justice.
