Männlichen - Kleine Scheidegg⭐⭐⭐
From Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg, this trail is a family-friendly route with spectacular alpine views, starting from the charming village of Wengen:[1]
The hike starts with an exhilarating cable car ride from the charming car-free village of Wengen. In winter, it's a wide and well-groomed trail, with spectacular views of the Eiger (13,020') and the Jungfrau (13,642'). There are many ups and downs, making this route difficult if you aren't acclimatized to the altitude! If you're looking for an easier option, come in summer, the route is much more level then.
During the hiking, I've run into a tour group, which tells you that this is a popular hiking route. Talking to one of the tour members, he said he was from Malaysia. I've also met an old couple who said that they have visited these Swiss trails annually. Initially, they lived in Europe. But, now they have moved to U.S.
According to a YouTube video that I watched before the trip, it said that Swiss pass will cover the ride from Kleine Scheidegg back to Wengen. But, that information was out of date. In 2019, I was told by the train conductor that I need to pay for the ride even with a Swiss Pass for this portion of trip.
Below are some photos which were taken during the hiking.
