Nestled amidst the Swiss Alps, the Matterhorn ⭐⭐⭐stands as an emblem of natural splendor. Its captivating pyramidal form, towering over the surrounding landscape, has captivated adventurers and admirers for centuries. 

The Enchanted Journey to the Matterhorn: Aboard the Gornergrat Bahn Railway

To fully appreciate the Matterhorn's grandeur, we embarked on a journey aboard the iconic Gornergrat Bahn Railway. As the cogwheel train ascended, the Matterhorn grew ever more prominent, its snow-capped peak dominating the landscape. With each passing stop, the train unveiled new perspectives, allowing us to capture the mountain's diverse beauty from various angles.

The Gornergrat Bahn railway has five stations between Zermatt and Gornergrat:

• Findelbach
• Riffelalp
• Riffelberg
• Rotenboden
• Gornergrat

On October 3, 2023, we embarked on a scenic journey from Zermatt to Gornergrat, pausing at the charming stations of Riffelberg and Rotenboden. The following photographs capture the breathtaking landscapes and captivating moments we encountered along the way.

At Riffelberg, we paused to admire the Matterhorn, the surrounding mountains, and the glaciers.

Rotenboden

After a short 100-meter descent from Rotenboden, we were rewarded with breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, its majestic peak reflected in the tranquil waters of Riffelsee. The serene setting amplified the Matterhorn's grandeur, creating a truly unforgettable spectacle.

Gornergrat

Gornergrat station is the final station on the Gornergrat Bahn Railway, located at an altitude of 3,089 meters (10,138 feet). It is the highest open-air railway station in Europe. There is a restaurant, a souvenir shop, and a viewing platform at Gornergrat station. The viewing platform offers stunning views of the Matterhorn, the surrounding mountains, and the glaciers.
