Salzburg Travel—Nice Stroll from Salzach to Museum of Modern Art and Hohensalzburg Fortress

The magnificent view of  Hohensalzburg Fortress

Salzburg is such a a beautiful city that it is one of my favorites in Europe:[1]

Salzburg encapsulates everything that’s amazing about Austria—magnificent historic architecture, rugged alpine landscapes, brilliant food, world-class winter sports, and friendly, smiling people.

Moving around the city to take in all the sights is a breeze. Salzburg is compact, so you can walk to most main attractions.  In this article, I'll show you my favorite route ⭐⭐that I took on 05/08/2022—a cloudy day:

Salzburg Travel—Visiting Hohensalzburg Fortress

Hohensalzburg Fortress (German: Festung Hohensalzburg, lit. 'High Salzburg Fortress') is a real eye-catcher, high above the Baroque towers of the city. The castle remains a visible landmark to this day and is an unmistakable feature of Salzburg’s world-famous skyline.
Hohensalzburg Fortress is enthroned on the Festungsberg, high above the rooftops of the Baroque historical district. The biggest fully preserved castle in Central Europe, this emblem of Salzburg offers a 360-degree view of the city and its surroundings.

Salzburg Travel—Visiting Altstadt (Old Town)

Salzburg Perfect Day (YouTube link)

The Historic Center of the City of Salzburg, also known as the Altstadt ⭐, is a district of Salzburg, Austria, recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996.[1] It corresponds with the historic city center, situated on the left and right banks of the Salzach river.
Busy Altstadt, the old town, centers on Getreidegasse, a narrow, pedestrian street with shops selling folk costumes and antiques. Mozart’s Birthplace has exhibits on the composer’s early life. The Domquartier includes the domed 1600s Salzburg Cathedral and the baroque Residence, with art by Rembrandt and Rubens. A steep path and a funicular lead to Hohensalzburg Fortress, with several museums and city views.[2]
