Lagos Travel: Explore the Natural Beauty of Ponta da Piedade and its Nearby Beaches

Miradouro da Ponta da Piedade

The Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse is located at Ponta da Piedade ⭐⭐⭐in Lagos, in the Algarve region of Portugal. It started operations in mid-1913.

Based on [1], the path from Lagos to Ponta da Piedade Lighthouse is classified as an intermediate-level hiking trail.
Alternatively, you can visit Ponta da Piedade via ocean route

On both 01/07/2023 and 01/08/2023, two sunny days, I've visited the said path over the cliffs twice on foot.  At the time, the grasses were green and wild flowers blossomed.  As told by a local tour guide, she said that I was lucky to visit Ponta da Piedade on those two days because the cliffs over the path would look yellowish in the summer.

Algarve Travel: Discover Benagil Cave on a Thrilling Boat Ride

An opening in the ceiling (notice that 2 persons standing near the edge of the opening above) that allows the sunlight to brighten up the grotto and the beach that it hides.

Algar de Benagil ⭐⭐is a beautiful cave located along the coastal strip of Algarve, the southern region of Portugal which is famous for its beautiful beaches.[1]
It is a majestic sea cave formed by three openings: two arches of about 50 meters which overlook the ocean and a third circular crack with a diameter of about 20 meters perfectly situated at the top like a sort of skylight with natural sun rays beaming through.

Algar de Benagil is only reachable by boats or hiking trails (hint: Seven Hanging Valleys Trail).  Like my trip during the winter, the boat trip can be cancelled anytime due to weather condition.  Starting from Lagos, which is not the best departure location, you can take a speed boat tour offered by companies such as BlueFleet.  It needs to be a speed boat because it would take time to reach Algar de Benagil from Lagos.  Also, the ride would be very bumpy because of the speed.

The below photos were taken on 01/06/2023, a sunny day.  Note that similar trips were cancelled a day before.  On 01/06/2023, the ocean appeared to be calm enough for the boat trip on that day.
