Faro: A City Beckons - A Personal Account of Enchantment

Faro ⭐⭐is the capital of southern Portugal’s Algarve region. It is known for beautiful beaches, colorful architecture, delicious food, and adventurous spots (i.e., Ludo hiking trail) . While relatively small, Faro offers plenty of locations to see and is definitely worth visiting.

Faro Travel—View from a Rooftop Restaurant

View of Faro Marina—scenic marina with night lights & a sculptural “Faro” sign popular with photographers

Accessing the Algarve Region, is easy via land transport from the rest of Portugal or from Spain.[1]

Its main hub is the city of Faro, the regional capital, which has its own international airport. There is another small airport in the Algarve, in Portimão, though it receives far fewer flights.

Faro is a beautiful city.  But, the view of it from a rooftop restaurant is even more magnificent.

Discover the Beauty of Faro's Ludo Trail

Golf Course Borders Ludo Hiking Trail

Ludo Hiking Trail ⭐⭐, a circular route (click here to see the map), crosses a border between the terrestrial environment and the lagoon system of the Ria Formosa, showing different habitats: forest patches, marsh areas and salt marshes.[1]
This route is a segment that crosses São Lourenço where we can observe a scenario of fresh and salty waters conducive to some plants and water birds that make this place their sanctuary, including ducks, grebes and coots, piadeiras and trumpet ducks. Along the way, you can also see a wide complex of creeks and salt pans where white salt is extracted. Pleasant route to explore this beautiful marsh located near Faro.
