This 26,810-acre labyrinth of bald cypress swamps is more than just a park—it’s a cinematic, ethereal realm that feels both prehistoric and deeply personal. The Landscape at a Glance The Waters : A maze of bayous and sloughs averaging 8–10 feet deep, with channels reaching 20 feet. The Wildlife : A sanctuary for 71 species of fish and a diverse cast of residents, including alligators, minks, and white-tailed deer. The Atmosphere : Bald cypress trees rise from the water, their "knees" jutting upward under heavy curtains of Spanish moss.
