Turkey Travel—Göreme Open Air Museum

Göreme Open Air Museum (Göreme Açık Hava Müzesi⭐⭐), one of Turkey's most-visited tourist attractions, preserves some of the best of the rock-cut, frescoed churches for which Cappadocia is known.[1]
Göreme Open Air Museum, which was opened to visitors in 1967, is a rock settlement located 13 km from Nevşehir and 2 km east of Göreme town. From the 4th century to the 13th century AD, there was an intense monastic life in Göreme.
There are churches, chapels, dining halls and sitting areas in almost every rock block. The churches in Göreme Open Air Museum are painted with 2 types of techniques, the first is the painting made directly on the rock by smoothing the surface, and the second is the painting made on the rock with the secco (tempera) and fresco techniques.
The topics covered in the church are from the Bible taken from the life of Jesus. Today's Göreme Open Air Museum is the place where the religious education system was started. There are Girls and Boys Monastery, St. Basil's Church, Elmalı Church, St. Barbara Church, Yılanlı Church, Dark Church, Çarıklı Church and Tokalı Church in Göreme Open Air Museum.
